THE YEAR OF THE DOG

         I like Pacy from the year of the dog a lot but I don't like her class mates at all. Comparing to my class mated they are really mean. For example when Pacy was trying out for Dorothy for the school play one of her class mates told her she can't try out for Dorothy because Dorothy isn't Chinese! If someone said that I can't try out for Dorothy because I was Jewish I would be really upset and sad. It's a play not who is the closest to be Dorothy! Another example is when they were drawing pictures a group of girls were making fun of how she drew things and when the teacher said she really liked it and she showed it to thw whole class they were being really mean and they were making faces at her. If you dont like what someone drew keep it to yourself don't be mean! I don't really expect them all to love her but just not be so mean.

         Even though I don't like some people I like her friends and her teachers. The friends seem really nice to her. And her teacher comlements her a lot.

          The book I am reading is "The year of the dog". This book was very nice at the begining. It was interestin funny and a fun way to learn about their culture. Another reason that I like this book is because the main characret Pacy reminds me of myself because of the way she acts and says things. For example when a new girl came to the school she went to talk to her strait away like I did and she also likes to know where someone is from and if they are like her when they come. Another example is that sometimes it tell my friends something that is not true so they will be happy, like when Pacy told her friend that there was such thing as the year ot the unicorn. However as I read on the book started to get less and less interesting since every chapter Pacy's mom tells her a story about her childhood. It's usualy not very relevent or needed and it is just boring. I want to know more about the actual storie not about her mom's childhood. I guess the author does this to have a cool way to tell about their culture. Anyway I would want to finish reading this book because the actual storie is very interesting. But I still hope that some how the mom wont tell any childhood stories and it will become more interesting.
